Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript has been prepared according to the instructions provided in the "For Authors" section of the journal's website.
  • The article has not been published in another journal nor is it being submitted concurrently to another journal. The Author confirms this in the attached Declaration.
  • All lines in the text and pages are numbered .
  • Tables, photographs, graphs and figures are are to be submitted as separate files appended to the article.
  • Author will provide the names of proposed (and eventually excluded) reviewers in the submission system.

Privacy Statement

Slovak Journal of Animal Science (ISSN 1337-9984 printed version | ISSN 1338-0095 online version) is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal edited by National Agricultural and Food Centre (NPPC) – Research Institute for Animal Production Nitra, Slovakia and published by the SciCell publishing house.

Publishing Ethics and Publishing Malpractice Statement

It is necessary to agree upon standards of expected ethical behaviour for all parties involved in the act of publishing (authors, editors, peer reviewers, publisher). SJAS’s ethic statements are based on the guidelines and standards developed and published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All documents are available free of charge on COPE website.

SJAS makes a commitment to prevent misconduct and to prevent the publication of manuscripts where misconduct has occurred and to not encourage misconduct to take place. The editorial office will deal appropriately with allegations of such misconduct when the editors are made aware of it or when it is identified. SJAS shall publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when necessary. Contact information is provided on the website. 

Reviewers commit to judge manuscript objectively and without bias. Should conflict of interest occur, the reviewer is obliged to decline reviewing the manuscript. Reviewed manuscripts are considered confidential and should be treated as such prior to their publication.

It is the author’s obligation to provide a retraction or corrections should mistakes be detected.

Open Access (OA) Policy

Slovak Journal of Animal Science and the articles published within are freely available for anyone to access and view under an Open Access (Green Open Access) publishing model. All submitted manuscripts will be considered for publication and published, if accepted, free of charge, and all content of the journal is freely available without charge to the user or the user’s institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the DOAJ definition of open access.

Repository (self-archiving) Policy

The authors are allowed and encouraged to deposit a copy of their paper in an institution or other trusted repository of their choice. SJAS allows deposition of all versions of the manuscript in a repository of the author’s choice without embargo. 

The publisher also archives hard copies of all issues via a legal deposit to Slovak National Library, The University Library in Bratislava, Slovak Agricultural Library, Central Library of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, The Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica, State Scientific Library in Prešov, State Scientific Library in Košice, and Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information. 

Care of Used Animals

If the work involves the use of animals, the author should ensure that the work described has been carried out in according with the ARRIVE Guidelineswhich were developed in consultation with the scientific community as part of an NC3Rs initiative to improve the standard of reporting of research using animals.

Originality

The author is responsible for originality of the paper, subject-matter and formal attributes of the paper. Authors submitting manuscript declare that the submitted manuscript is original and has not previously been previously published, is not being currently considered for publication in another journal and that all other work used in the preparation of the manuscript is properly cited.

Privacy Statement

Slovak Journal of Animal Science and the journal’s editorial process seek to be compliant with the industry standards for data privacy and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provision for „data subject rights“ that include:

  • right to a “breach notification” when data is compromised
  • “right to access” to the information about the processing of a subject’s data
  • “right to be forgotten” in balance with public interest in the availability of the data 
  • “data portability”
  • “privacy by design”

Data collected from users of this journal falls within the scope of the standard functioning of a peer-reviewed journal. It includes information necessary for communication during the editorial process, information used to inform readers about the authorship and editing of content, as well as for tracking geopolitical and social elements of scholarly communication.

The data is used by the editorial team to the extent necessary for publishing and improving this journal and to help maintain the integrity and public record of scholarly publishing. In its anonymized and aggregated form, the collected data may be shared with the journal’s publishing platform’s developer Public Knowledge Project (PKP), in cases where it may assist with the publishing platform’s development. The data will not be sold by this journal, its publisher or PKP and it will not be used for purposes other than those provided in this Privacy Statement. The authors published in this journal are responsible for the human subject data that figures in the research.

All papers accepted for publishing in the SJAS are published under a CC-BY-NC licence (CC BY-NC 4.0). Published content can be shared (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapted (remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose) excluding commercial use, with specifying the author(s).
