Abstract

The aim of our study was to verify the effect of addition of implementers to fresh ram semen on sheep fertility out of season. For laboratory preparation of ram semen we used the milk extender EquiPro, which is used for stallions and other sires. We added implementers (IGF, glutathione and caffeine) to the extender during preparation of insemination doses for individual groups of sheep on two experimental farms (Farming Cooperative Bela Dulice and Agrosev Ltd. Detva). For the sake of comparison, we created also control groups in both experimental herds, where sodium citrate was used as extender without implementers. On the basis of sonographic detection of gravidity we noticed the highest fertility in sheep with adding IGF factor; fertility in Bela Dulice was 85.18 % while in Agrosev Detva it was recorded as 62.9 %. With glutation additive was the fertility 81.25 % in FC Bela Dulice and 54.76 % in Agrosev Detva. With the caffeine implementer was the fertility 72.22 in FC Bela Dulice and 36.36 % in Agrosev Detva. With usage of sodium citrate without implementers in FC Bela Dulice was fertility 82.35 % and in Agrosev Detva 75.0 %. In all cases we noticed lower fertility in Agrosev Detva in comparison with FC Bela Dulice. We assume that the results were influenced by the conditions on farms. The best results in both herds were noticed with IGF growth factor.
